Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that no country can boast of 100 percent security just as he called on the people not to leave the issue of security in the hands of the government alone.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo yesterday shortly after paying condolence visit to the Deputy National Vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-West, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo on the death of his father, Obasanjo maintained that even United State that is regarded as most secured nation was devastated by the Al-Qeada through the 9/11 attack on the twin towers and the pentagon.

He added the countryshould look for the root cause of insecurity in the country rather than blaming ourselves.
He said, “The rate of insecurity in the country is becoming alarming therefore it behooves on all and sundry to contribute their own quota to bring lasting solution to the problem of insecurity that is ravaging the nation rather than leaving it in the hands of government alone.”

Obasanjo, who doubles as the chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) of PDP further explained that during his administration between 1999 and 2007, he was pre-occupied with what was going wrong in the nation Rather than who was wrong.

who are of the same age with Nigeria.

“We have to bear in mind in 1960 what is the population that you have to deal with and what is the population today. Yes, there are areas that we have done fairly well and there are areas that we have not done well but on the whole as far as am concerned ?I thank God for Nigeria because that is progress,” he added. He maintained that PDP is still standing strong, big and firm in the south west adding that the party will bounce back to reclaim its control of the region.
