Unilever Nigeria Plc, in its bid to improve oral care in Nigeria, has come up with a breakthrough innovation in whitening toothpaste for its teeming customers.
?
According to Dr. Andrew Joiner, a member of International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and Royal Society of Chemistry, at the IADR conference in Abuja recently, there was a demand from consumers and patients for products that whiten teeth. Based on this, through the understanding of colours, science and its application for tooth colour, a new approach to tooth whitening has been discovered in toothpaste.
?
The whitening toothpaste was arrived at after the deposition of blue covarine onto the tooth surface changed the optical properties of the teeth such that they became both measurably and perceivably whiter immediately after treatment, as confirmed by in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
Also speaking at the event, the marketing director of Close-Up, David Okeme, ?said that the whitening toothpaste ?was an addition to the Close-Up brand that would help consumers achieve great smile, adding that it goes a long way in building individual self esteem.
?
According to him, Close Up White Now puts an end to the consumers’ search for cosmetic benefits from oral care products adding that the brand contains a conventional cleaning system that would provide more gradual stain removal and whitening which is capable of dental restorative materials.
“The unique formula of Close Up White Now also provides all the protection of fluoride toothpaste and with the inclusion of Glacier Fresh Flavour, the consumers will have a feeling of intense freshness in the mouth.”
?
The Managing Director reiterated that the position of Unilever in the Oral Care business was to serve their customers, thus their continuous efforts in research and development for oral health adding that Unilever Oral Care was one of the world’s largest manufacturers of branded toothpaste with over 40 years experience delivering quality products for oral hygiene.?
