2012 Budget: House Will Ensure 99 Per Cent Implementation – Rep

?A lawmaker, Akpan Umoh (PDP, Akwa Ibom), ?on Friday, said that the House of ?Representatives will ensure 99 per cent ?implementation of the 2012 budget.?In a chat with the News Agency of ?Nigeria (NAN), Umoh said that the House would be “very robust” in its oversight functions.

It would be recalled that during the October ?4, 2011 plenary, Rep. Patrick Ikhariale (PDP, Edo) had ?moved a motion on the selective implementation of ?the 2011 budget by the executive.?“We are going to be very serious in terms of budget implementation, as it forms the bedrock of any growing democracy,” Umoh ?said.

According to him, implementation of ?budget is a critical aspect of the provision of the dividends of democracy to the people.?“As politicians, execution of projects becomes very important to us, because it forms the basis for taking democracy back to the people at home,’’ he said.

The lawmaker said that with the falling ?oil price hovering around $77.7 per barrel, ?the country will be realistic as regards income and expenditure in the 2012 budget.?“For once, we are going to be very realistic, as it has to do with the 2012 budget,’’ he said.
