The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali, has said that his office will cooperate with the Office of the National Coordinator of SERVICOM to ensure that the SERVICOM Units in all Federal Government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are functional in line with its established mandate.
Alhaji Sali said this in Abuja yesterday when he received the management team of the National SERVICIOM Office, led by the Senior Special? Assistant to the President and? National Coordinator of SERVICOM,? Mr. Sylbriks Obriki.
He said that as a pioneer staff of the National SERVICOM Office when it was created, he regretted that, presently, the objectives of SERVICOM had been pushed aside in many MDAs “which has also led to the neglect of service delivery as a cardinal principle in the civil service”.
The Head of Service also recalled that when he assumed office, he promised that the focus during his tenure would be to make the civil service work for Nigerians.? This, according to him, can be fully accomplished when all that are contained in the SERVICOM Charter of each MDA are effectively implemented.
The SERVICOM National Coordinator, Mr. Sylbriks Obriki, stated that “SERVICOM office will fast-track the Transformation Agenda of the Federal government as it consolidates its approach in fighting service failure in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).”
He also asserted intimated with Head of Service with the status of the programme and called for a concerted effort by all to ensure that the vision of SERVICOM is kept alive in the Nigerian public service.
The national coordinator also emphasized the need for training and capacity building in service delivery and the development of training modules based on SERVICOM principles at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria.
Obriki told the new Head of Service that “the Transformation Agenda has to do with changing the mindset of public servants towards efficiency, professionalism and diligence in the discharge of their duties, which? is the thrust of the Service Delivery Initiative being implemented by the SERVICOM Office.”
