Mr Ogunjimi? Abayomi, the immediate past chairman of Amuwo district of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), has advised Nigerians to stop corrupt practices.
Abayomi made the call in an interview in Lagos recently.
As far as he is concerned, shunning corrupt practices is the only way the Nigerian economy could grow like those of developed countries.
“I assure you that, there is no harm in aspiring to be one of the strongest and best developing countries, but corrupt practices such as looting the nation’s treasury, short-changing consumers in all shades or selling sub-standard goods and services will not move the economy forward. The general practice of cutting corners has become our way of approaching business, which is not good,” Abayomi said.
He said that Nigeria was blessed with abundant natural and human resources but we have failed to harness the potentials because of the presence of corruption.
Abayomi therefore urged Nigerians to revive the image of the country by embracing good ethics in their businesses and personal lives. (NAN).
