The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) yesterday raised an alarm over purported plans by opposition parties to cause mayhem and disrupt the local government election that is scheduled to hold tomorrow.
Speaking at a political campaign rally held in Amuwo –Odofin Local Government Area? , the Lagos state chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Otunba Henry Ajomale said that the opposition parties led by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)? have threatened to unleash mayhem in the state .
Ajomale, who denied the claims that the party members were staff of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), noted that the opposition party members had resorted to cheap blackmail to cause confusion in the state instead of convincing the electorate with a superior manifesto.
The party leader urged the party members to disregard the threats and intimidations not to cast their votes and? explained that the election was? key to the development of the areas.
Also speaking, the Lagos state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola who also addressed the people of Lagos on the state’s 26th health mission before the rally, said that the state government through the free state health mission had treated over 2.6 million Nigerians irrespective of their States of origin.
The governor who urged the residents to come out en masse on Saturday to vote for their party to continue to enjoy the free health care services, said dividends of democracy were more guaranteed by the party’s manifesto.
The governor while allaying? the fears of the residents over plans by certain individuals to wreck havoc at the polls, said that members of the PDP had done all within their powers to ,” destroy , extinguish and annihilate the Local Governments”.
He charged the party faithful to discard the threats and intimidation and exercise their civic responsibility in the local government polls.???
