Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun? has expressed his administration’s readiness to encourage skills acquisition among the teeming population of youths in the state.
Amosun who said this while receiving reports of the fact-finding panels on the Gateway Industrial Petroleum and Gas Institute, Oni, College of Health Technology, Ilese and four
Gateway ICT Polytechnics, located at Sapade, Ijebu-Igbo, Itori and Igbesa, the governor explained that his government would take a critical look at the recommendations of the panels with a view to immediately act on them.
“We understand the significance of development and capacity building. For us in Ogun State, we will encourage our people to acquire necessary skills for them to evenly contribute their
quota towards the mission to rebuild the state. Most times, our people rely on artisans and technicians from outside the country to fix one thing or the other. This should be discouraged.
We have people that can be so trained and I think we should give them the training.”
Amosun described Gateway Industrial Petroleum and Gas Institute as “a veritable source of revenue for the state” and noted that if well-funded, the institute could contribute considerably towards the task of rebuilding Ogun State.
The governor also underscored the importance of ICT skills, saying “We cannot over-emphasise the world of ICT people all over the world
