24-year old University of Benin student, Lynn Uke, has become the third contestant to be voted out of the 3rd season of popular music reality TV show, Glo Naija Sings.
Lynn, who performed Cher’s Do You Believe’ as part of the top 8 last week, went out with a smile and words of gratitude for Nigerians and all the fans who voted for her from across the continent.
“I want to say thank you to all Nigerians and all who voted for me. God bless you all”, she said. She later performed her goodbye song, ‘Sweet Love’ by Anita Baker which generated a lot of emotion from the audience and her fellow contestants.
?The remaining top 7 contestants then went ahead to put their skills on parade for the continental audience by performing “Hits from the 80’s”, the selected music category for the week.
First to perform was Vicky, who lit up the stage with her powerful rendition of Dione Warwick’s ‘That’s what Friends are for’. Christian followed with a performance of Billy Ocean’s ‘Suddenly’ while Oni performed ‘One Moment in Time’ by Whitney Houston.
Mattade took on the difficult task of singing Michael Jackson’s ‘I’ll be there’, while Tee Songz and Am Ok performed ‘All night long’ by Lionel Ritchie and ‘At Last’ by Ella Fitzgerald respectively. Last to perform was Precious, who tried his best to bring to life the international hit, ‘Ladies Night’ by Kool and the Gang.
The judges, comprising Sound Sultan, Onyeka Onwenu and Olisa Adibua were as usual, direct and upfront with their comments for the contestants. Sound Sultan noted that Precious got overwhelmed during his performance while Tee Songz gave him a really good time.
Onyeka commended Vicky for her performance saying, “You sing with sincerity, conviction and empathy, it wells up from inside of you. I see the signs of a great singer”. She also said Oni was passionate; Tee Songz was cute while AM Ok should watch it.
Olisa commended Tee Songz for his performance beginning with a welcome back to the show comment. He said Precious got everything wrong while Mattade chose a song which was well beyond his vocal range.
