Flag bearer of the Labour Party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, has declared that surprise awaits the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the poll.
Usman, who stated this in Lokoja yesterday in an interview with our correspondent, said the December election would be completely different from previous polls.
He expressed confidence that the electorate would reject the PDP this time around after nearly nine years in power, saying the people of the state seriously desired a change.
The LP candidate further pointed out that his decision to contest the election was borne out of his desire to impact positively on the people.
He promised to run a purposeful leadership that would take the state to enviable heights, assuring that the state would witness rapid development if they came on board.
He said that if given the mandate, he would accord rural transformation a top priority, adding that majority of the people of the state, who reside in rural areas deserved the basic necessities of life.
Usman stressed that he would exploit the abundant mineral resources in the state for the benefit of the people, even as he promised to pay attention to youth and women empowerment.
He, therefore, urged the electoral umpire to be fair to all the political parties contesting in the December poll, just as he charged the security agencies to be vigilant to ensure that votes of the electorate count.
