Katsina State Government has expended two billion naira in the last three years to boost science and technical education in the state, executive secretary of science and technical education board, Bala Isyaku Mashi has said.
Speaking to newsmen in Katsina, Mashi said the amount was used for the purchase of science and technical equipments “for distribution to schools under the board and for the development of structures to make learning conducive”.
Mashi said the funds had been injected into the purchase of science and technical equipments for the over thirteen science and technical colleges in the state as a demonstration of government commitment to science and technical education.
He said the expenditure in the science and technical education sub sector was done in line with the state government’s determination to reposition the sector “conscious of the fact that the future of Nigeria as a nation lies in development of science and technology”.
“Government is putting a lot of resources in the science and technical education sector and this reflects in the performances of our students who sat for NECO, WAEC and NABTEB”, he said
The executive secretary insisted that public private partnership was necessary for the development of science and technical education sector even as he stressed the need for public spirited individuals to support government efforts in that regard.
