Falcons’ Ouster: It’s Unbelievable – Mbachu

Super Falcons player, Stella Mbachu is yet to get over the painful loss the team suffered in the hands of the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon last Saturday, in Cameroon. The Falcons lost out in the quest to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games via penalty kicks.
The Cameroonians ended the hopes of the Nigerian women appearing at the Olympics with a shocking 4-3 win on penalties after a 2-2 full time scoreline and 3-3 aggregate overall.
The player who could not make the trip to Yaoundé due to typhoid fever said that the least she expected from the encounter was a loss of the Olympics ticket. “I was expecting them to qualify not minding the result.

It never crossed my mind for a second that Cameroon will stop us from participating at the Olympics. I am definitely short of words, I am deeply shocked.

I don’t know where we will go from here. It’s another sad moment of our football,” Mbachu cried.
On whether her presence would have changed the situation, the Rivers Angels’ forward said football must not be seen as an individual effort but a collective drive from a team.

“I don’t know any more, the ticket is lost, it does not matter any longer. I was not strong for the match, I don’t know, football is a team sport,” she lamented to SuperSports.com. Cameroon and South Africa will now represent the continent at the Olympics.
