Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has set up an Investment Promotion Council in his quest to continue the fight against poverty, unemployment and general underdevelopment in the state.
Making this known yesterday at the Government House, Minna, the state capital, the governor said he would personally head the state’s economic team which would coordinate all the economic activities in the state for it to have the needed political support. He therefore directed all local government councils in the state to establish similar committees ‘to strengthen the required synergies for achieving collective results’.
He said: “There is no doubt that our state is hugely endowed with human and natural resources, which are indeed largely under- exploited. We are very sure that once we organize ourselves get the priorities right, remove corruption in the system and harness our potential maximally, Vision 3:2020 will be realizable.
“We cannot afford to fail in our collective desire to transform Niger state into the best place for our people to live happy and fulfilled lives, the best place to retire gracefully and the best place to grow old,” he added
The governor therefore challenged the IPC and the members of the Economic team to recommend viable investments projects for promotion by both public and private sectors in the state.
Similarly, Aliyu, told the council to source genuine investors for the government through the organization of Investment fora, and also advise government about tax administration in the state.
