The political aspiration of Chief James Ocholi (SAN), the standard bearer of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Kogi State received a major boost on Sunday night when his colleagues in the legal profession across the state endorsed his ambition.
The lawyers, at an interactive session with Ocholi at the Confluence Beach Hotel, Lokoja, also promised to mobilise massive support for their colleague to ensure that one of their own takes over the reins of governance in the state.
Mallam Mohammed Musa, Chairman of the Lokoja Branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) described the CPC candidate as a reliable personality who has always been there for his colleagues, saying the time has come for them to reciprocate his good deeds.
He said Ocholi had all it took to transform the state, adding that with him in the saddle, Kogi would witness accelerated development.
He further posited that the aspiration of the CPC candidate was beyond party leanings, and urged the people of the state to support the candidate that would turn around the fortunes of the state.
The chairman of Idah branch of the NBA, Isiaka Ibrahim, called on the legal practitioners in the state to reach out to the community leaders at the grassroots to encourage them to elect Chief Ocholi in the December poll.
He noted that the state was currently at a crossroads, and said that with proper enlightenment, the electorate would go for the best material that would pull the state out of the woods.
Mrs. Janet Makun, who spoke on behalf of the Federation of Women Lawyers, (FIDA), said they would mobilize other women to support Ocholi, describing him as a gender-friendly colleague.
John Ajewole, another legal practitioner from the western axis of the state equally said in a remark that the hope of the people who struggled for the creation of the state had faded away, “because we missed the very foundation that would have put the state on a sound economic pedestal.
