The Nasarawa State government has said that plans are underway to re-introduce the inter-local government and development areas transfer of service, to foster unity and inject sanity into governance at the grassroots level of government.
Inter-local government staff postings in the? state was scrapped about 12 years ago by the administration of the first civilian governor of the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, in the year 2000.
Worried by the event where natives of the same local government are impeding the growth of their areas, the state government said it will revert to the old system of inter-service transfer to enhance productivity and result oriented governance at that level of government in the state.
The permanent secretary in the state ministry for local government and community development, Alhaji Abdullahi Ogiri Oji, made this known while reacting to questions on the peaceful demonstration by staff of Doma and Lafia local governments, who protested the late payment of salaries and alleged retrenchment of some staff, recently.
