There are strong indications that Super Falcons coach, Eucharia Uche will not continue as head coach of the team. This is because her failure to qualify the team for next year’s Olympics has made it difficult for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to give her the nod to continue as the national women team’s coach.
This development is coming at the heels of losing on penalties to their Cameroonian counterparts in Yaounde last Sunday.
The NFF according to LEADERSHIP SPORTS checks is not ready to look the way of Uche as the best person for the Falcons’ job.
Uche initially had a contract but it expired after the FIFA Women’s World Cup before the football federation renewed it by another eight weeks. But before leaving for the Cameroon shock defeat, the coach was out of contract and she would have enjoyed a respite had she grabbed the Olympics ticket.
There have been calls for Uche’s head before now especially after the team failed to qualify for the All Africa Games. However, now that she has failed to land the women at the football event of the Olympics, authorities at the Glass House in Abuja are not interested in giving her another chance it was revealed. “Eucharia Uche’s case is not a matter of being sacked. She’s out of contract and having failed to lead the Super Falcons to the Olympics, the NFF won’t be renewing her deal at the moment,” an NFF official said.
