The Nigeria Football Federation assistant secretary general technical, Mr Emmanuel Ikpeme may have given an inkling as to what may be the fate of embattled Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia this week. The NFF chieftain yesterday said the coach should consider himself sacked for failing to qualify the Eagles for next year’s Nations Cup.
Ikpeme said having failed to actualise the mandate in his contract he should know that his job is up. However, the decision regarding Siasia’s future as Eagles coach remains with the executive board of the federation who are planning to meet this week.
Eminent football personality and lawyer, Adokie Amasiemaka also argued that Siasia has no case strong enough to keep him on the job and the NFF should not debate the issue but revoke his contract since he has failed to deliver on the performance clause contained in his contract.
The former commissioner of sports in Rivers State insisted that if there was a clause in the coach’s contract stating that Siasia must qualify the Eagles for the Nations Cup or step down, the NFF must sack Siasia him because it was stipulated in the contract.
For ex-Super Eagles defender and former Lyngby Bk FC of Denmark defender, Emeka Ezeugo, the NFF has no choice considering the circumstances to remove Siasia and appoint a qualified coach to handle the national team. He wonders why the NFF is delaying when there are other qualified coaches to take over.
