The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Ezenwo Wike, has said that the Federal Government has awarded contracts for the Almajiri school project in 19 states.
???? Wike told journalists in Yola yesterday that contractors would be mobilised to move to sites very soon.
He said that President Goodluck Jonathan would lay the foundation stone to the project in Sokoto.
The minister, who inspected some UBE projects in Adamawa including a female boarding school, re-iterated the Federal Government’s commitment to girl-child education, particularly in the northern parts of the country where there had been challenges.
He commended Adamawa state government for its commitment to the UBE programme implementation, saying that the Federal Government would ensure that contractors expedited action on all UBE joint projects in the state.
Wike also lauded Adamawa government for setting up well equipped technical schools, which he said, was in line with Federal Government’s transformation agenda to make Nigerians acquire skills that would make them self-reliant.
