Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris? is to lead the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the December gubernatorial election with Prince Olusola Akanmode emerging as director-general.
The governor, who disclosed this at the Government House, Lokoja, Monday? during the launch of the campaign team of the party, noted that the forthcoming governorship poll would not be a tea party and charged the members of the campaign committee to work very hard to ensure the success of the party.
Idris praised the pairing of Captain Idris Wada with Yomi Awoniyi as the party’s governorship candidates, saying, the ruling party would not allow itself to be dislodged by the opposition.
He assered that the duo were prepared to work diligently towards building a new Kogi State, and described them as dependable personalities.
Speaking earlier, the former deputy chief of staff in the presidency, Prince Olusola Akanmode, said the PDP would win the December poll if it did not take any party or anybody for granted.
He advised the party leadership to reach out to the aggrieved governorship aspirants, to enable the ruling party go into the election as a united family.
Captain Wada, the standard bearer of the party , said they would strive to step into the big shoes of the incumbent, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
