For the sixth time, the Federal High Court Abuja yesterday failed to sit on a substantive matter instituted against the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sani Lulu Abdulahi and three erstwhile officials, Amanze Uchegbulam, Taiwo Ogunjobi and Bolaji Ojo-Oba by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The presiding judge, Justice Donatus Okororuwa did not sit to listen to the coordinated argument of counsels representing the former NFF chiefs, challenging the jurisdiction of the court and EFCC to prosecute them.
After several postponements hopes were high yesterday for a hearing but the accused persons waited for close to one hour before being told to go as the case has been adjourned to December 12, 2011.
First respondent, Sani Lulu disappointed with the continuous postponement told reporters outside the court that he is not happy with the delay stressing that justice delayed is justice denied.
He insisted that he has no case to answer concerning the charges leveled against him by the anti-graft agency challenging the court to quash the case instead of subjecting them to continuous suffering. “I know, I don’t have anything to hide,” he declared.
“If they have not found anything against us, they should have courage to tell Nigerians the truth and quash the case instead of subjecting us to this suffering. I know my hands are clean and I served this nation to the best of my ability and the results are there for everyone to see,” he said.
