To consolidate its leadership position in the bagging sector of the manufacturing industry, the Dangote Agro Sacks Limited, a subsidiary of Dangote Group, has embarked on aggressive expansion by adding to its production lines to hit production of 51 million bags per month.
Besides installation of more production lines, Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Chelliah Jeyaraj said plans are afoot for establishment of more plants to take bagging closer to its various clients and meet the ever growing demands.
Speaking after conducting newsmen round the Ikeja, Lagos headquarters of the firm, in company with Datti Danjuma, the Head of Administration, Mr. Jeyaraj disclosed that already Dangote Agro Sacks had opened a new plant at Obajana, Kogi State to service the Dangote Cement plant in the area and other clients from the North Central zone.
According to him, the company is presently producing 31 million bags and that with the additional lines in Lagos, Obajana and the planned new Ibeshe plants, it will hit 51 million bags per month by December this year.
He explained that the Dangote Agro Sacks had been on a path of steady growth having commenced operations in 1998 with production of five million bags per month and that by 2005, it increased production of various bags and bagging containers to 10 million.
