The Governor of Niger State Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has urged Nigerians to use the occasion of this year’s Eid- el-Kabir festival to strengthen the bond of friendship existing among the various nationalities in the country.

He said that the significance of the Eid-el-Kabir festival marked worldwide today was an important period of deep reflections and meant to inculcate the Islamic virtues of devotion, compassion obedience total faith in Allah (SWT), sacrifice, generosity and kindness .

Aliyu, in a Radio and Television broadcast to mark the festival said that “as we celebrate we must remember that Islam is a religion of moderation and peace, which creates a balanced society that caters for the needs of everyone, once it is practiced correctly and knowledgeably as exemplified by Holy Prophet Mohammed (SWT)”.

The Governor who charged the Muslim Ummah in the country to continuously search for knowledge and education, saying that search for education “will guide us in practicing our religion righteously and in creating the balance in our lives to the satisfaction and reward of Allah. (SWT)”.

Meanwhile the commissioner of culture, Abubakar Garba Muhammed has said that a mini durbar to celebrate the eid would hold on Monday in Minna, the state capital.
