The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Birin-Kebbi? yesterday nullified the election of? Governor Saidu Usman Nasamu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
?
?Consequently, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct? fresh election between Governor Nassamu and the governorship candidate for the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) in the April 26 governorship election, Mallam Abubakar Abubakar within 90 days.
??
Meanwhile, Governor Nasamu’s lawyer, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN), has said that his client will? appeal against the judgment of the tribunal.
?
?It could be recalled that the? Supreme Court last? Monday November 7, 2011, okayed the petition filed by the CPC candidate,? Abubakar challenging the election of? Nasamu? as the validly elected Governor of Kebbi State.
