Immediate past Chairman of First Bank Plc, Chief Oba Otudeko, has said that he owed the national honours award of Commander of the Federal Republic (CON) conferred on him to the Almighty God.
?
Otedeko was among the 355 distinguished Nigerians presented with various national honours by President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday.
?
Agreeing with the president’s position that national honours are not merely decorative, the renowned banker and astute businessman said the CON award reminded him of the good old days at First Bank when he toiled in ensuring that it becomes the first among others in line with its name.
?
He added that his giant strides in the country’s economic sector would not have been such a huge success without God’s grace, adding that hard work alone does not guarantee success in a man’s life.
?
He? thanked President Jonathan for constituting a viable national honours award committee whose members used their discretion well enough in nominating those who really deserved the award.
