The governorship candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has urged the people to prevent rigging and protect their votes in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.
He gave this charge in an interview with newsmen and said that every measure must be taken by the party and other stakeholders to ensure that every vote counts.
Audu, stressed the need for the electorate to conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner on the day of election and urged them to wait for the counting and announcement of the results before leaving the polling and collation centres so as to prevent rigging by any one.
He said, “Each time I am out on electioneering campaign, I have always told the electorate that gone were the days that you cast your votes and forget about what happens next.? After casting your vote, you must make sure that your votes are accounted for.
“You cast your vote, you wait for the vote to be counted, results to be declared and after the declaration of the results make sure that the result so declared are entered into the proper result sheet given by INEC because one of the rigging methods in the past was that after declaring results, they wrote it on a piece of paper and make the electorate believe that the result sheets were not available and later they go and do whatever pleased their whims and caprices in a hideout.
