The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Mr. Danladi Zhin has been nominated for an award, ‘Ambassador for Free and Fair Election’ by a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Alliance for Credible Election in West Africa
The Secretary-general of the group in Nigeria, Mr.
Nathaniel Ladipo, who disclosed this in Abuja, yesterday, said the selection of Zhin for the award was in recognition of his tolerance during the local council elections in the FCT.
He said: “We have monitored elections in the country including the ones conducted in the FCT. The major challenge now is how to enlighten Nigerians to see themselves as one and to refrain from sectional politics. The purpose of this award as announced by our West African Coordinator, is to encourage other politicians not to see politics as a do-or-die affair.
He said the organisation had received entries from different people across Africa but Zhin’s nomination from Nigeria followed his tolerance to the opposition during the
FCT council’s election even when he was an incumbent.
Ladipo said the award would be presented to Zhin at a ceremony scheduled to hold in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
