The General Manager, Public Affairs of the PHCN, Mrs Efuru Igbo, has said that workers of the company are not on strike.
Igbo said on Thursday in Abuja that the workers were at their duty posts and that there was no problem whatsoever, describing the heavy presence of armed policemen at the company's premises as normal.
“Go down the stairs, you will see my car and that of my boss and other cars parked at the garage. We are all working, the armed policemen are here to safeguard the properties and personnel of the company.
“The Federal Government recently directed the security agencies to guard all PHCN installations across the country in view of the challenges of the Boko Haram sect as the sect intends to bomb PHCN installations,’’ she said.
NAN investigations showed that many workers of the company were locked out of the company's premises.
Speaking to NAN on condition of anonymity, some of the workers said they wanted to protest the unusual presence of security personnel at PHCN installation across the country, saying, “it is a threat to our security and freedom of movement. ’’
?The leader of the security personnel at the PHCN premises who declined to give his name or have his voice on tape said, however, that policemen were invited to PHCN premises to maintain peace and security.?
