National leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) may have found itself in a quandary over issues bothering on zoning. This was even as the Mid West Bar forum threatened to boycott the upcoming national conference if other zones did not concede the presidency to it.
Indication to this effect emerged at the end of a meeting of the forum held at Oleh in Delta State.
In a communiqué made available to LEADERSHIP in Benin, signed by the secretary, Edward Aibangbee and R.O Isenalumhe for and on behalf of the chairmen of Branches, the forum said that in the interest of fair play, the branch should be allowed to produce the next president.
The forum argued that since the inception of the association, the branch has been neglected when it came to producing a president of the body even when it has kept its own part of the contract.
Part of the communiqué read, “that all the branches of the NBA have agreed that the MidWest Bar Forum should vie for and produce the next President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
“That in the interest of fairness to all fora and Lawyers in Nigeria,? the other fora; the Eastern Bar Forum; Northern Bar Forum and Western Bar Forum having produce the President of the association twice each, the Midwest Bar Forum should be allowed to produce the president in 2012.
