Minister of Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji, has given a one-week ultimatum to Mabon Limited, the contractor handling the Dadinkowa Dam in Gombe State, a project conceived over 30 years ago, to prove its capability or have the contract terminated.
The minister harped on the need for all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to insist on technical viabilities of contractors before awarding any job, and decried the alarming number of abandoned and uncompleted projects nationwide because financial considerations was placed above sound technical knowledge.
Nnaji stated this while reviewing the Gombe DadinKowa hydro power station with the project handlers and other stakeholders in his office in Abuja yesterday.
He said that it was embarrassing that a critical project, whose civil work was commissioned in 1988, was yet to take off in 2011.
