President Goodluck Jonathan has described the former Premier of the defunct Northern Region and the Sardauna of Sokoto,? the late Sir Ahmadu Bello,? as a man whose outstanding life was worthy of emulation.

?Speaking at the 35th annual convocation ceremony of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria yesterday, Jonathan said, “The late Sir Ahmadu Bello lived a life characterised by selflessness, religious tolerance and accommodation as well as honesty and hard work. It is also noteworthy that the great leader achieved tremendous stride for himself and for the nation at a rather young age. “These are virtues that our graduating students and indeed all Nigerians should imbibe and practice in order to move our beloved country to a greater height”.

The president, who was represented at the occasion by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayat? Rufai, counseled the? graduating students on the need to contribute their quotas to the development of the country and be worthy ambassadors of the ABU.

He said, “As you are being released to the world, you are being entrusted with some level of responsibility not only to manifest, but also to demonstrate the great tradition that has produced you. You have become ambassadors of the ABU.

“As you start your match in life, we encourage you not to forget ABU, the place that nurtured you to become what you are now and what you will become tomorrow. It is your responsibility to give back to this institution so that it will continue to nurture other leaders of the country that will come after you.?
