Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo have described the death of Ikemba of Nnewi, as another colossal loss to Nigeria at a time of strenuous efforts for unity and reconciliation.
In a condolence message issued in Abuja by his media office, Atiku Abubakar recalled that Ojukwu’s role as a key actor in Nigeria’s political development cannot be easily forgotten.
He said Ojukwu was a tremendously respected and influential politician whose endorsement was frequently needed by others to build their political careers.
Also, former governor of old Anambra state, Senator Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo said yesterday that the country lost an icon in the demise of Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu.
Nwobodo in a statement yesterday said that the Ikemba would be remembered in many ways, not just as the Head of state of the defunct Biafra.
“The country has lost an icon at a time his wisdom and experience were needed. He was a first class soldier, a gentleman to the core, a loving and caring husband and father. He was loved and revered by his people and respected by all regardless of sectional divides. He will be greatly missed’, Nwobodo mourned.
