Five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmen in Bayelsa State chapter have accused Governor Timipre Sylva of sponsoring non- PDP members to Abuja to protest his disqualification? from the November 19 PDP governorship primary election. LEADERSHIP learnt that the protest is billed to take place in Abuja today.
The chairmen are: Hon. Binalayefa Gagariga, kolokuma/opukuma Local Government Chairman, Mr. Cyril Sudoumowei (Ekeremor); Mr. Ben Foreman (Southern Ijaw); Mr. Newyear Okoringa (Sagbama) and his Ogbai Local Government Area counterpart, Mr. Baralatei kuro.
A statement jointly signed by them reads in part: ‘‘Some overzealous persons loyal to Governor Sylva are sponsoring persons (some non-party members) to Abuja under the disguise of PDP ward Chairmen to demonstrate/ protest against the generally accepted decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party’s disqualification of Governor Slyva to participate in the PDP gubernatorial primaries and also to discredit the just concluded free and fair Guber primaries in Bayelsa State’’.
“We are constantly in touch with our various authentic ward chairmen and they are intact in their various wards in Bayelsa State preparing for campaigns for our flag bearer, Hon. Henry Dickson and lobbying voters to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections in Bayelsa State.’’
Urging Dickson’s supporters to be calm, the chairmen called on the general public, security agencies and the PDP NWC to disregard such impersonators and treat them as such.
