A Kaduna based Civil rights activist and President of the Civil Rights Congress (CRC), Mallam Shehu Sani has described as diversionary,? the arrest and detention of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume by the State Security Service (SSS).
Sani also said that rather than removing? the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs Farida Waziri, President Goodluck Jonathan should have sacked security chiefs for not being able to address the current security challenges in the country.
Speaking in an interview with journalists? in Kaduna, Mallam Sani said that judging from the operational method of the Boko Haram group, there was no way they could accept monetary contribution from someone like Senator Ali Ndume who is considered as belonging to the establishment whom the group is fighting against.
He said, “the arrest and detention of Senator Ndume is diversionary and only meant to justify the huge expenditure of the government on security. Even though one cannot deny the fact that there are some politicians who might be sponsoring militant activities and the activities of the Boko Haram, it is evident to say that Ndume is seen as a member of the establishment that the Boko Haram group is fighting against.
