Katsina state House of Assembly has directed its committee on agriculture to liaise with all relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution to clashes between farmers and Fulani pastorialists in the state.
The directive came barely three weeks after a clash between farmers and Fulani pastoralists which claimed three lives and left many in critical condition.
Our correspondent reported that the clash occurred in Kankia, Jibia and Kaita local government areas of the state.
At the sitting on Tuesday, the House frowned at the level of destruction of farm products during the clash and urged the standing committee on farmer/Fulani clash to intensify efforts in ensuring an end to such clashes.
Speaking after deliberating on the issue, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo gave the committee one week to submit its report.
Gwajo-Gwajo described farmer-Fulani clash as disturbing, adding that the committee should work to address the problem.
LEADERSHIP reports that the assembly’s resolution followed a motion on the clash, presented by member representing Bakori, Alhaji Haliru Atiku who called on the House to find lasting solution on the problem.
