He said that government would no longer tolerate acts of indiscipline and lawlessness by any individual or group, noting that every Nigerian must be part of the peace building process.

“The role of our Northern stakeholders in addressing our emerging security challenges is hereby acknowledged. It is vital for the survival of our democracy that the North must continue to champion the course of peace and progress of our coexistence.

“A situation where some Nigerians take law into their hands in flagrant abuse of the rule of law and natural justice is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

?“Government alone cannot do everything on its own. It needs the support of all and sundry. We therefore call on traditional rulers, the clergy, the organised private sector, senior citizens and all well-meaning individuals to participate in securing Nigeria for our children and those yet un born.”

?Sambo said that the present administration would continue to work on its Transformation Agenda in spite of the challenges of insecurity and paucity of funds.

He commended the management of the Peoples Media Ltd., for organising the conference and choice of the topic which he said was timely.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal, had tasked the conference to come up with valuable suggestions that would lead to the resolution of the crisis in the region.
