The Zamfara police command has arrested Sani Umar, also known as Shedan (Satan) for allegedly leading a team of hoodlums to chop off the left wrist of a 25-year-old lady, Malama Fatima Mohammed, in an attempt to snatch her handbag.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Umar had collaborated with three others, Anas Balami, Hussaini Kura, and Buhari Ukele (now at large) and attacked the victim, before cutting off her left wrist and robbing her of her belongings
Findings revealed that Fatima met her ordeal at Kofar Mani area of Gusau,the state capital, while she was on a commercial motorcycle on her way to a tailoring workshop, when the hoodlums suddenly appeared and attacked her. In the process, one of the bandits, Buhari Ukele, allegedly chopped off her left wrist with a sharp cutlass, while inflicting other serious injuries on different parts of her body.
The state police commissioner, Alhaji Muhammad Tambari Yabo, who confirmed the arrest of the ringleader, said the other three co-suspects were still at large, but added that the police was making frantic efforts to arrest them for prosecution.
He disclosed that his command had succeeded in making various arrests in connection with different sorts of crimes committed in various parts of the state, and assured that the police will not relent in their fight against any form of criminal activities in the state.
He reiterated that his command had also arrested four suspects, Umaru Ibrahim, and Shehu Gurgu, suspected as part of a gang of eight armed bandits who invaded the house of one Alhaji Maidabino Sani, killed his younger brother Mohammed Sani, and robbed the family of unspecified amounts of money and other valuables.
