Gwagwalada Area Council has threatened to sanction a firm Techstyle Engineering, for delaying in the completion the FRCN-Kutunkun Road.
The council chairman, Alhaji Zakari Angulu,? who made the threat in Gwagwalada during an inspection tour of some major projects embarked upon? by the council, expressed dismay over the slow pace of work on the project.
Angulu, while handing the contractor a two-week ultimatum to complete the project, noted that the council had paid over 72 per cent of the contract sum.
“I am not comfortable with the? slow pace of work on FRCN-Kutunku road considering the fact that we have paid over 72 per cent of the contract sum. I have alerted the works department of the council that the project must be completed and delivered on or before December 15, and failure to do that will attract sanctions to be decided by the council administration,” he said.
Angulu, who refuted claims that inadequate funding by the council on the project was responsible for the slow pace of work said the council administration was mindful of all itsprojects and will not tolerate acts that could undermine its efforts in alleviating the suffering of residents.
“I am using this medium to challenge anybody in doubt of the council’s position about the project that the contractor has been paid over72 per cent of the contract sum to come to the council for clarifications,” he added.
In his reaction, the managing director, Techstyle Engineering, Mr. Ibrahim Zubairu, pledged to deliver the project in line with the chairman’s directive.
The council boss also urged the residents to report situations they felt uncomfortable about especially the projects being executed in their communities to the area council, through their various councilors.
Angulu, who, however, expressed satisfaction over the secretariat road project which was 100 % completed, also applauded the pace of work at the ultramodern town project. He noted that with little efforts from the council, the project will be completed.
