As the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) nationwide strike enters its third day, students and parents have started counting their losses, even as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) appealed to both the Federal Government and ASUU to speedily resolve the dispute which has once again led to the paralysis of academic activities on university campuses across Nigeria.
The student body, in a statement by its President, Comrade Dauda Mohammed, which was made available to newsmen noted that the resolution was reached at the just concluded 69th Senate meeting held on December 4 in Asaba, Delta State.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, has urged the striking lecturers to return to classes in the interest of the nation, while assuring that the Federal Government will do all within its powers to attend to ASUU issues.
Also, the ASUU chapter of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has adopted diplomacy in the implementation of the strike action declared by its national body.
