The National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, yesterday, disclosed that the remains of ex-Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, will be flown into Nigeria from London before the end of January 2012.
Umeh made the disclosure while speaking with newsmen shortly after arriving at the Akanu Ibiam Airport, Enugu with Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, the deceased’s widow. Bianca had earlier arrived at Abuja from London yesterday.
The APGA boss noted that the interment of the elder statesman had generated a lot of interests across the country and beyond.
He said President Goodluck Jonathan and Governors of the South-East have indicated interest to participate fully in the burial of the former Biafran leader.
Umeh added that the burial date of Ojukwu was chosen in conjunction with his family, and added that with the return of Bianca from London, all necessary arrangements for the funeral will commence.
He said, “We just returned from Abuja and from this place, we are taking her home and from there, the family of Ojukwu will take over the arrangements of the burial in consultation with all interested stakeholders. Now that the widow has returned, all arrangements will start with the family,”
