The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has stated that the party has sufficient?? evidence to ensure that the victory of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) at last weekend’s governorship election is upturned.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, the ACN’s Chief Strategist at the poll, Hon. Dino Melaiye, declared that the victory the PDP was enjoying was temporary, as his party was set to reclaim the stolen mandate in Kogi State.
The former member of the House of Representatives and chairman, House Committee on Information, who expressed shock at the declaration of the PDP candidate, Captain Ibrahim Wada as winner of the election, argued that as of midnight on the day of the election, the ACN was leading in 14 out of the 16 Local Government Areas announced.
He wondered how the tide suddenly changed in the morning when the remaining results were announced. Melaiye alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) connived with the PDP to defraud the ACN which had worked hard to secure the peoples’ mandate of its hard-earned victory.
“As of 12midnight, from our own situation report put together from the EC8A forms from all polling units, already ACN at 12 midnight had won about 14 local governments and the papers in the morning reported that ACN was in early lead, but before day break, we discovered that the results had been manipulated and a new one fabricated. That’s why we are saying the ACN will not take this lightly.
“We will fight it with every legitimate means and we want to assure Kogites that they should remain calm and peaceful.
“We should remain law-abiding because this stolen mandate will be restored in a matter of a few months. And basically, I want to assure the PDP that their victory over the ACN is temporal and evaporative.”
He urged President Goodluck Jonathan in the interest of justice, to prevail on the INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega to release the authentic results of the poll.
