Contrary to allegations making the rounds that Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamako worked against the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last election, two political interest groups Good Governance Project Initiative (GGPI) and Pro-Integrity Movement (PIM) have described the allegation as calling a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
In a release signed by the groups’ spokes persons, Mr. Innocent Okadigbo and Mr. Sule Abu, the groups noted that Governor Wamakko ensured that President Jonathan won in his polling booth and ward and got the 30% of the votes from Sokoto State, which they said enabled him to secure an even spread for his presidential victory.
On the allegation that Gov Wamakko supported the emergence of Aminu Tambuwal as speaker of the House of Representatives against the party’s guideline on zoning, the group said that it was simply coincidental that Tambuwal is from Sokoto.?
“Just like every other PDP governor, Wamako urged Tambuwal to toe the party line but the situation was beyond the governor. Wamakko forced Tambuwal to the stream but could not force Tambuwal to drink water,” adding that “Tambuwal’s election as the speaker was a national wave which no local force could stop.” The coalition said.
