All commercial banks in Azare town of Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi state have remained in lock and key following last Sunday’s armed attacks in the city.
It could? recalled that unknown gunmen had on the early morning of Sunday invaded Azare town and threw explosives at the Mobile Barracks, Police? Divisional? Headquarters and new generation banks in the area which resulted to the death of three persons including a soldier, a police man and a civilian even as several others sustained serious injuries.
Two new generation banks and residence of? robbers’ hunter, Ali Kwara, were also bombed on the fateful day by the unknown armed men suspected to be Boko Haram hoodlums.
The? Information Officer of the Local Government, Bashir Chinade, told our correspondent in an interview that the remaining financial institutions not touched by the? incident have closed their premises in solidarity with the affected banks.
Chenede disclosed that security operatives were patrolling Azare town and its environs while dusk to dawn curfew? has been imposed on the town.
He further emphasized that “dusk to dawn curfew have been imposed on Azare town and other surrounding villages following the incident.
“Yesterday, I was coming into Azare town from Kano and had to spend the night in a hotel as I couldn’t reach my house when I learnt that security men were enforcing the curfew,”? Chenede said.
Our Correspondent gathered that Mobile policemen and soldiers were seen patrolling major streets in Azare.
