Ahead of January 14 governorship election in Adamawa State, Yola the state capital came to a standstill as Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, and other executive members of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) yesterday stormed the state to flag off the gubernatorial campaign of the party’s flag bearer, Ambasador Buba Marwa.
Addressing a? mammoth crowd of party supporters, Gen. Buhari expressed regret that despite the abundant resources the country was blessed with, Nigerians have remained slaves in their country due to corrupt and bad leadership by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
He urged the people of the state to vote for the CPC candidate, Marwa in the forth coming governorship?? election so that he could salvage the people of Adamawa, going by his past records and antecedents in public service.
He lamented that the PDP had failed the nation and had nothing good to offer Nigerians except bad and corrupt leadership and urged the voters to fearlessly take their destiny in their own hands by voting out the PDP? as the people of Nasarawa State had done.
In his speech,? Governor Al-Makura urged? the Adamawa electorate not to be intimidated, but to stand firm and ensure the victory of the party, pointing out that with commitment and determination, change was possible as the people of Nasarawa State had demonstrated in the? April 2011 general elections.
