For the second day running, banks in Ibadan yesterday refused to open for business due to rumours that armed robbers planned to attack banks in the metropolis.
Banks in Ibadan had on Wednesday shut down for business following rumours that two new generation banks in the town were attacked by armed robbers.
A News Agency of? Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who visited the Challenge area of Ibadan yesterday, reported that all the banks in the area were shut while scores of angry customers gathered outside the premises lamenting the development.
An official of the Fidelity Bank branch in the area, who declined to reveal his name, told the crowd to go home, as the bank had resolved to close for the day following what he called “scary’’ security reports.
Some customers were, however, lucky to conduct their transactions using their ATM cards.
