There are indications that ministers of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) worldwide would resume their 18- year-old-legal battle on December 13 before Justice J.E. Sharkarho of a Federal High Court Ibadan in Oyo State.
President of the church, Pastor Elijah Howard Oluseye, the secretary, Pastor Gideon Okegewemeh and a principal officer in the church, Pastor Johnson Olabisi, are facing criminal charges of conspiracy and forgery of the Certificate of Incorporation of the Church.
The protracted crisis has polarised the church into two factions:? the Supreme Council, being led by Pastor Ogunlade and the General Executive Council being presided over by Pastor Elijah .H.Oluseye.
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND reliably gathered that following the loss of the civil aspect of the case by the Supreme Council faction being headed by Pastor Ogunlade, the faction has contracted Chief Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria to handle the appeal against the judgement of an Ikeja High Court in Lagos State.
Pastor Ogunlade recently warned members of his faction that on no account should any other person file another appeal, adding that the chambers of Afe Babalola alone should handle the appeal.
He once told reporters in? Ibadan that all entreaties to resolve the conflict were frustrated by Pastor Oluseye and his group who, according to him, confessed that the issue was resolved outside the court. ?
