Stephen Keshi wants to pick 10 domestic players to join his Super Eagles A squad, but says that will only happen if they earn it.?
The Super Eagles coach is expected to name a squad of 30 domestic players this week for a training camp in Abuja this month.
But he insists there will be no free passes.
“The local league is the foundation of our football, and we want to get about 10 players from the league into the Super Eagles.
“But they have to prove that they can get there on merit. We are not just going to include them in the team because we want home-based players.
“Our target is to get 10 but if we find that only two are good enough, then we will take just that two and leave the rest,” Keshi said.
In saying that however, Keshi reiterated his belief in the ability of players from the domestic league.
“I don’t believe there is any position we have a problem in the team that we cannot find a home-based player to solve it,” he said. “I think what they need is guidance and somebody to believe in them and they will excel, if they work hard.”?
