The Ekiti State government has said that bush burning during hammattan could lead to fire disaster. This was just as it advised the people of the state to avoid bush burning and other menace that could be traceable to fire during the period.
In a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, “the State government is committed to the protection of lives and properties and the maintenance of eco-balance which bush burning can inhibit.”
He urged the people not to deliberately set bushes in their environment on fire in the name of game hunting.
