President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Wednesday charged all Nigerians to collaborate with the government to tackle the nation's numerous challenges.
Jonathan, who was speaking at the St. Mulumba Catholic Chaplaincy, Apo, where he had morning devotion with Senate President David Mark, said : ''With our collective efforts and prayers we shall overcome.''
The President admitted that the advance technology and sophistication in the world had made it imperative for Nigerians to rise to the occasion and find solutions to their problems, especially the security challenges.''
He said the challenges were enormous but expressed confidence that with collective efforts and supplications to God, these problems would be surmounted.
“As for me, the circumstances of my being in politics, I do not know, but God who brought me here will use me to do what is desirable to uplift the nation and transform Nigeria.''
He thanked Nigerians for their support and prayers for the success of his administration, promising that his administration will do all in its power to transform the nation.
In his remarks, the Senate President urged Nigerians to show understanding toward government programs and policies, noting that it took the understanding of government and the governed to make things work well.
''I know the problems are enormous, but I am close enough to know the efforts being made to address them.''
Rev. Fr. Jerome Bello, who conducted the mass, had earlier listed the problems confronting Nigeria to include hunger, insecurity and corruption.
While praying that quick solutions be found to solve these problems, he encouraged Nigerians and the government to have faith in God.
