Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Service (SSS) yesterday, paraded three suspected high-profile fraudsters, who attempted to use the names of President Goodluck Jonathan, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, to defraud prominent Nigerians.
The fraudsters also dropped the names of the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadome and the new Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Christian Oboh, to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
Parading the suspects at the Rivers SSS Command Headquarters at the old Government Reservation Area (GRA), the State Director, Mr. Segun Agbaje, said greed was responsible for the desperation to defraud innocent people, especially eminent personalities.
Agbaje disclosed that in the last few days, operatives of the SSS, Rivers State Command, who were determined to rid the state of undesirable elements, while stepping up its game, apprehended the fraudsters, who were using the names of top government functionaries to defraud Nigerians.
