Former sole administrator of Kano Pillars Football Club, Alhaji Kabiru Baita has called on the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) to look into the possibility of changing the venue of its AGM to Abuja.
He said the call becomes necessary due to the current political tension in Bayelsa State.
According to him, choosing Bayelsa State to host the AGM is not a right decision considering the political tension ongoing in the South South state. He added that the NPL ought to have taken into cognizance the political crossroads currently taking place in the state.
He said those at the league governing body should have thought of that before giving any approval for the hosting of its programmes. Baita further explained that unless the NPL has skeleton in its cupboard, there is no way it will insist on Bayelsa to host the event despite the crisis in the state.
‘’As far as l am concerned, taking the AGM to Bayelsa is totally wrong at this material time. They should hold the meeting either in Abuja or somewhere else rather than risking the lives of its members due to their personal interests. Many members may not attend the AGM unless the NPL assures them of their safety,’’ the one-time SOLAD concluded.
