Concerned about the increasing queues at filling stations due to scarcity of fuel, the House of Representatives has summoned the minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Allison Madueke, the group managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Austin Oniwon and other relevant players in the oil sector to explain the situation.
Other invited agencies are Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, and the Petroleum Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPRA.
The lawmakers made this decision when they adopted the resolution of a motion moved by Hon. Bashir Babale under matters of urgent public importance yesterday.
Babale urged the House to intervene and save Nigerians from hardship caused by the scarcity, adding that the federal government should urgently bring the situation under control in order correct the general impression that the scarcity was part of government’s move to remove the fuel subsidy.
